Job Description

Qualifications:
- Excellent musicianship and artistry as a teacher/performer
- Strong understanding of string bass pedagogy
- Experience working with children from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Selfmotivated and willing to collaborate in a teamteaching environment
- At least 2 years of prior teaching experience preferred
- Bachelors or equivalent degree in String Bass Performance or Music Education Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Responsibilities:
Develop and teach engaging group string bass lessons that:
- Establish routines and encourage development of strong fundamental skills
- Incorporate a variety of strategies (movement ear training music reading) and activities (exercises games demonstration listening etc)
- Maintain excellent classroom management
- Adapt to the needs of students at various levels and with various learning styles
- Encourage peer teaching
- Collaborating closely with the Administration and faculty to achieve programwide learning goals
- Maintaining a positive and nurturing classroom environment
- Setting and maintaining high standards for student behavior and music learning
- Enforcing program rules and policies
Terms of Employment:
Seasonal/Yearly Employment
Location: Somerville High School
$40 per hour worked
Mandatory Orientation and Professional Development Days: TBD
Program Schedule:
Monday through Friday
Start Date: July 14 2025
End Date: July 25 2025
Hours: 8:30am 12:30pm
