This position is located in Liberty NC at the Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) facility.
Who were looking for
Toyotas Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to launch and support our supply base for Toyotas first Battery manufacturing plant in North America.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development of New Model products processes and Supplier Partners. To achieve this goal the Engineer will deploy the PSD New Model Development Operational Procedure.
The person in this role will support PSDs objective to develop our outsourced supply base to ensure overall best cost quality ontime part availability manufacturability and operational selfreliance. The candidates should consistently demonstrate attributes of next level capability as outlined in the Toyota Core Competencies and meets expectations of current position.
What youll be doing
Utilize process engineering and Toyota Production System skills through collaborative work with our Supplier Partners teams to ensure design and implementation of optimal manufacturing processes.
Execute and manage the PSD operating procedure for specific change part content over multiple programs.
Develop execute and modify project strategies for critical parts as defined by risk ranking.
Maintain and communicate responsible part status information for internal project Key Performance Indicators (KPI) visualization internally and externally.
Lead supplier teams to root cause problem solving consensus building and project completion utilizing Toyota business practices.
Manage project schedules to achieve set objectives and KPIs.
What you bring
Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field or 4 years of equivalent professional experience in automotive manufacturing/engineering.
Manufacturing Quality or Engineering experience (includes applicable coop experience) in Automotive or similar commodities such as:
Battery Modules
Powertrain Engine / Transmission / Powertrain Electrification
Interior components Door Trim / Garnishes / Headliner / Console Box / Fuel Tank
Electronic/ Safety Systems Airbag / ECU / Steering Wheel / Audio / Multimedia / Seat Belts / Hybrid Systems
Chassis Components Steering / Suspension / Brakes / Driveline
Body & Assembly Frame / Body Stamping / Structural Stamping & Welding
Manufacturing Quality or Engineering experience with one or more of the following processes:
Molding processes / Plastics joining / Complex Assembly / Paint or Coatings
Soldering / Complex Assembly / Sewing / Wrapping / Wire harness assembly
Casting / Forging (Aluminum & Iron)
Machining / Milling / Heat Treatment
Stamping / Welding
Experiencereading drawings/prints including the ability todiscuss basic GD&T for manufactured parts.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50.
Added bonus if you have
Automotive manufacturing experience working directly for an Automotive OEM or Automotive Supplier.
Manufacturing Quality or Engineering experience (includes applicable coop experience) in one or more of the following commodities / products:
Battery Cells or Battery Modules
New Model Production Preparation experience with demonstrated ability to manage either of the following:
Multiple Tier 1 Suppliers Production Preparation across multiple vehicle / unit projects
The establishment of manufacturing processes to include critical characteristics and parameter controls across a broad spectrum of inputs such as Tooling Equipment Process Capacity Capability Quality Throughput and Human development
Understanding and creation of: Control plans Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) Program timelines Bill of Materials (BOMs) & Loading Capacity Sheets.
Experience in design feedback activity for manufacturability or cost reduction initiatives.
Experience with Catia /AutoCAD/Autoform.
Experience with Tool & Die Structure and Design for Stamping Welding Casting Injection Molding and/orForging.
Experience in Toyota Purchasing Supplier Development or Equivalent.
Successful completion of Toyota Business Practice (TBP) Panel or other established problemsolving methodology training & experience.
