The Quality Assurance & Control Officer ensures that all blueberry production processes meet established quality and food safety standards. This role involves implementing and monitoring quality control procedures conducting inspections supporting compliance with audits and maintaining accurate quality records. The officer will work closely with the farm team to drive continuous improvement in quality and operational efficiencies.
Key Performance Outputs
- Ensure all production processes meet internal and external quality and safety standards. Conduct inspections testing and compliance monitoring.
- Support internal and external audits (GAP HACCP customerspecific). Maintain certification compliance.
- Maintain accurate quality records. Analyze trends and recommend improvements. Generate reports for management and stakeholders.
- Train farm teams on quality standards. Implement best practices and drive process enhancements.
- Identify risks related to food safety and quality. Implement corrective actions and hygiene protocols.
- Conduct routine quality checks on raw materials and finished products. Identify nonconformities and report deviations.
- Ensure products meet internal and customer specifications. Monitor packaging and labeling for accuracy.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure adherence to quality procedures. Recommend improvements.
- Monitor hygiene and food safety practices. Ensure compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
Qualifications / Experience
- Diploma in Agriculture or relevant certification in Horticulture Food Science Quality Management or other related field.
- 13 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within fresh produce ideally in blueberry or soft fruit production.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and or processes GAP HACCP HARPS Freshcare and Freshcare Supply Chainand food safety audits advantageous.
- Experience with data collection reporting and quality inspection procedures.
Functional / Technical
- Strong understanding of agricultural quality control and assurance processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to conduct inspections testing and compliance monitoring accurately.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint) and quality management software.

Experience with data collection, reporting, and quality inspection procedures.
Education
Diploma in Agriculture or relevant certification in Horticulture, Food Science, Quality Management, or other related field.
