Job Description

The NBCUniversal Internship Program allows students to unlock their potential by contributing to big projects in meaningful ways that matter. To thrive as an NBCU intern you are ready to bring your passion for media entertainment and technology along with your desire to learn each day. 

 

In addition to our internships being paid we will also offer the following for our Academic Year interns:

Academic Year Recruitment Timeline

April 21 May 9: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume) 

Early May Mid June: First round video interviews  

Mid June Mid July: Second round interviews 

Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers 

  

Academic Year Internship Program: 

  • Applications Close: May 9th at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible applications could close earlier due to applicant volume!  
  • Program Dates: September 15 2025 April 17 2026 
  • Time Commitment: 1624 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules. 
  • Format: Opportunities listed will be fully virtual.

NBCs quality programs and balanced lineup have earned the network critical acclaim numerous awards and ratings success including most recently winning the traditional SeptembertoMay season in primetimes key demo marking the networks third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history. 

 

Universal Studio Group (USG) encompasses NBCUniversals television production studios: Universal Television (UTV) Universal Content Productions (UCP) NBCUniversal International Studio and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). USG produces over 100 scripted and unscripted series across multiple countries around the globe for buyers in broadcast cable and streaming. Network partners include NBC Peacock Netflix Amazon Hulu Apple HBO BBC ITV Channel 4 CTV ABC FOX and ABC among many others. 

 

Areas of placement may include but are not limited to: 
  

  • USG Marketing & Awards: Ideating and producing social media content for studio and brand handles supporting the awards team through research asset management and administrative duties updating and tracking department documents for overall campaign timelines reading scripts and summarizing for brand guidelines brainstorming and presenting ideas (e.g. campaign opportunities social media initiatives marketing creative etc. and more 
  • E! News Editorial & Social (SpinCo): Interns will work closely with the editorial team to understand what makes a strong news story and how to identify next beats ideate and pitch stories viral trends and celebrities that will help start a conversation drive traffic and engagement write and publish news content ranging from trending news stories to evergreen galleries and SEOdriven articles research visuals on Getty and Shutterstock identify best options to download photoshop and upload to our CMS upload videos created by the digital news team and social team to social platforms curate clever captions and adopt the E! News voice to deliver stories to our audience act as a social producer and reporter for select red carpets and events and more. 

Qualifications :

Basic Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degreegranting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026. December 2025 graduates are not eligible for ourAcademic Year Internship Program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above 30 credits). 
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future toretain authorization to work in the United States. 
  • Must be available to work 1624 hours per week from September 15 2025 April 17 2026.  
  • Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked. 

For further clarification candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F1 CPT F1 OPT J1 M1 are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.  

NBCUniversal is an EVerify company requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.   

Desired Characteristics

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Previous public relations experience is a plus but not required. 
  • Familiarity with Muck Rack Cision and Google Alerts a plus but not required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint Excel and Word. 
  • Experience or familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite a plus (Premiere Photoshop). 
  • Familiarity with HTML & Web technologies. 
  • Ability to write clean copy quickly and efficiently. 
  • Experience creating content for various social media platforms. 
  • Ability to multitask highly organized and strong attention to detail. 

 

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.50.
