Job Description

Role Type: 3year part time contract 0.4 15.2 hours per week)
Salary: $116464 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation


The opportunity:

The National Child and Family Hubs Network is seeking a skilled Policy and Advocacy Lead to help drive our mission to strengthen Child and Family Hubs across Australia. This is a parttime role 15.2 hours per week) that offers the chance to make a real impact on the future of families and children across the nation.

As the Policy and Advocacy Lead you will play a key role in developing and implementing advocacy plans that align with the Networks longterm strategic objectives. You will work closely with the Manager the Hubs Team and the Networks Advocacy Working Group to strengthen the Networks reputation as a trusted partner to government and a thought leader in the sector.

Your work will help influence policy changes and ensure Child and Family Hubs are better connected to the broader early years ecosystem. You will be responsible for producing highquality reports policy submissions presentations and other communication products to drive systemic change.

About your new team

The National Child and Family Hubs Network is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to ensuring that families across Australia have access to the services and support they need. Through our Child and Family Hubs (Hubs) we provide a safe welcoming space where families can access essential services build social networks and thrive. Our vision is that every family in Australia can walk through the door of a Child and Family Hub and receive the care and support they need at the right time.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of highquality advocacy products including external communication products and policy submissions aligned with the Networks strategic goals systemic change priorities and key messages.
  • Proactively monitor and develop responses to emerging policy issues and trends particularly those impacting integrated health education and social service models and placebased policy.
  • Support relationships across the Network Steering Committee the Advocacy Working Group and other key partners to secure positive outcomes for communities through policy positions communication and advocacy strategies.
  • Manage and convene the Advocacy Working Group meetings including Network members and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Support the Hubs Team in longterm advocacy strategy and planning.
  • Leads project management from submission to delivery under limited supervision while maintaining flexibility to respond to urgent requests or shifts in focus.

What we need from you:

  • Approximately 5 years experience in advocacy or communications within a government relations context or related field including policy development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working in initiatives governed by multiple stakeholders and competing interests (desirable)
  • Degree/Honours/Masters qualification in relevant field (social policy health sciences)
  • Experience in project management from developing project plans and bringing a project to fruition within budget and within the agreed time frame
  • Experience in the planning monitoring and evaluation of projects
  • Experience in navigating and negotiating with multiple organisations and professional groups within a project management framework
