The opportunity

The Coordination Support position for Breakthrough Manchester CollegeBound at SNHU is tasked with supporting and engaging the community of a fouryear tuitionfree college access program for highly motivated low opportunity students in the Manchester School District featuring skillbuilding workshops dedicated advising and college research and planning support. Run out of The Chandler Center this program serves not only Manchester School District high school students but also undergraduate SNHU students interested in gaining realworld experience in skills such as lesson plan creation mentorship college advising and teaching. Currently the program supports over 100 high school students and 20 advisors (undergraduates or recent graduates).

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Coordination Support position will work closely with the Breakthrough Manchester program assistant to support work in the following areas:

  • Plan coordinate and support regular communityengaging and academicallyfocused activities for high school students 2035 per grade) such as study halls community service and college info sessions
  • Communicate with and engage a growing community of students advisors and alums through social media newsletters and regular updates
  • Provide logistical support such as resource management for the Breakthrough Manchester team on CB Saturdays and other major Breakthrough Manchester events
  • Collaborate consistently with the Breakthrough Manchester team as well as relevant community members in order to best support students and advisors
  • Encourage develop and sustain studentled initiatives such as yearbook peertutoring and class office

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Specialized knowledge: Understanding the college application process and the challenges facing firstgeneration and underrepresented students.
  • Skills: Must be able to work and collaborate well with high school and college students and professionals in both Secondary and Higher Education Institutions.
  • Abilities: Must have superior communication and collaboration skills. This includes not only successfully utilizing digital mediums and platforms to support a community of high school and college students but also the ability to lead inperson workshops and community events for those same populations.
  • Other characteristics such as personal characteristics: An engaging personality selfmotivation and selfdirection are essential. In addition the individual must be detailoriented and adept at planning and managing events. Innovation and creativity are also a necessary characteristic of a successful program assistant.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • This is a parttime position of up to 20 hours per week.
  • This includes working on at least 1 Saturday per month.
  • Hours are flexible and some work can be completed remotely.
  • The main office and location is SNHU 2500 North River Road Manchester NH

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills qualifications experience and internal equity in addition to relevant business considerations.
