Join the team as a Utilities Data Technologist and play a key role in managing and analyzing utility data within the stunning Kananaskis Region of Alberta Parks! You will drive the development and maintenance of the ArcGIS Utilities Network ensuring precise data collection and verification while supporting field operations. Your expertise will also extend to monitoring contracts ensuring compliance and overseeing contractor performance. This dynamic role blends technical skills with handson involvement in seasonal utility systems helping to shape the future of Alberta Parks utility infrastructure!
Role responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Utilities program data collection and management.
Utilities program data analysis and reporting.
ArcGIS utilities network implementation and maintenance.
Field support and maintenance activities.

Education and Experience:
A twoyear diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Electrical Engineering Technology Civil Engineering Technology Environmental Technology or Utility Systems Operations plus two years of experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Additional Requirements:
Preferred Education: a bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Science Environmental Science or Utility Management.
Proven experience in data collection management and analysis ideally within a utilities or infrastructure environment with a strong focus on data accuracy and actionable insights.
Handson experience with GIS platforms particularly ArcGIS including utilities network management spatial data analysis and data verification for accurate asset mapping and system planning.
Proficiency with data analysis tools and software (e.g. Excel Power BI Tableau Python R).
Willingness to develop skills in fieldwork maintenance activities and utilities systems operations (e.g. water wastewater electrical natural gas or propane) with a focus on safety and operational efficiency.
Strong Written and Verbal English Communication skills: ability to clearly explain complex technical data and findings to nontechnical stakeholders including management government regulators and contractors.
Proof of Class 5 drivers license or equivalent.
3 years drivers abstract.
Criminal Record Check.
Assets:
Knowledge of how utilities (e.g. water gas electricity) operate their systems and associated infrastructure (e.g. pipelines grid networks).
Familiarity with asset management practices for utilities understanding asset lifecycles and how they relate to capital projects.
Strong skills in problemsolving particularly related to troubleshooting issues with utility data systems infrastructure anomalies or system integration challenges.
Ability to integrate effectively into a small team as a Utilities Data Technologist bring strong communication collaboration and adaptability skills. Be proactive in problemsolving dependable with deadlines and maintain a positive teamfocused attitude to support collective success. Fostering trust sharing knowledge and being flexible with responsibilities will help build a strong team dynamic.
