Job Summary:
This position is the Senior Manager Category Procurement for NonMetallic components for Caterpillars Resource Industries Division. You will manage the NonMetallic component procurement to deliver year over year Quality Cost Logistics Development and Management (QCLDM) performance improvement and create value through suppliers. Youll serve as the industry expert for nonmetallic manufacturing within Caterpillar while delivering Global Leverage with Local Service Excellence. You will manage a global team of buyers and collaborate with engineers supply chain professionals and supplier development engineers to manage and develop a worldclass supplier base in a variety of nonmetallic processes.
What You Will Do:
Reporting directly to the Director of Global Procurement this role is accountable for the development communication and implementation of a worldwide sourcing strategy for Caterpillars nonmetallic category. Youll collaborate with Site and Product Managers to create a competitive advantage for our customers and the enterprise by developing optimizing and integrating a worldclass supply base. You must maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization and recognize employee excellence.
Leadership: This person will recruit train/mentor and manage a high performing global team of supplier development engineers and purchasing professionals who will develop the supply base capable of meeting QCLDM requirements. Reporting directly to this position are a global team of Buyers.
Educational Requirement:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience 510 years of progressive engineering sales or procurement of nonmetallics)
Top Candidates will also have:
Complex strategic relationship management experience
Welldeveloped communication and negotiation skills
Lean manufacturing demonstrated experience in reducing transactional waste and waste in suppliers processes
Global sourcing knowledge and experience required preferably with experience in nonmetallics
Ability to acquire and influence an understanding of governmental environmental political and geographic factors that influence a supply base
Previous 6 Sigma Green Belt Black Belt or Sponsor experience preferred Experience in disciplines beyond procurement such as supply chain manufacturing or engineering
Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred e.g. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M. Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM) or comparable international certification
Affiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or comparable professional purchasing organization

Manages one or more A&C functions or units.
Facilitates compliancerelated business process implementation or improvement initiatives.
Implements specific organizational changes made in response to the SarbanesOxley Act.
Contributes to development of A&C strategies and plans.
Improves key relationships and dependencies among Audit IT and other business functions.
Contributes to the establishment of best practices for A&C.
Business Intelligence:
Organizes and maintains data to be captured in the data warehouse for BI applications.
Evaluates alternative BI products in terms of their potential value to organization.
Develops targeted marketing campaigns based on BI analysis.
Develops processes for transforming aggregate data into useful business information.
Analyzes BI gained from multiple and diverse environments.
Evaluates key benefits drawbacks and rationale for existing BI activities.
Category Management:
Analyzes recent trends and developments related to category management and procurement and discusses future implications.
Establishes best practices in category management and develops related training programs.
Formulates a procurement strategy that utilizes the benefits of category management to streamline the procurement process and maximize business profitability.
Identifies and defines KPIs to track and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement process.
Oversees the category management processes for all categories and provides technical guidance during implementation.
Promotes the use of emerging tools and technologies for implementing the category management process.
Supplier Management MFG:
Facilitates supplier partnering arrangements that share risk and reward.
Monitors supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements.
Develops quality standards and controls for suppliers.
Builds and maintains partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers.
Evaluates issues and terminates supplier relationships as appropriate; works with legal departments.
Ensures the fulfillment of report and recordkeeping requirements.
Strategic Sourcing:
Participates in monitoring the for all stages of the strategic sourcing process.
Trains others on strategic sourcing in multiple and diverse environments.
Designs and develops standard supplier agreements and procurement policies with standardized terms and conditions.
Works with complex strategic sourcing components including but not limited to negotiations contracting and continuous process improvement and implementation.
Consults on strategic sourcing methods in relation to business relationships interdependencies and integration.
Develops and explains strategic sourcing best practices and rationale for the organization and industry.

The primary location for this position is Mossville IL. Additional locations are Tucson AZ; East Peoria IL; Decatur IL; Dallas TX.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
Extensive travel will be required up to 50.
