Job Profile


The Procurement team seeks to hire a diligent contract professional to provide commercial support for planned contract packages. As an integrated member of the procurement team this role will support the Manager Procurement to develop requests for proposals as well as contribute to bid evaluation bid analysis contract formation and contract management.

As a member of the Procurement sub-function for BHP Legacy Assets the incumbent will work collaboratively with the functions teams to support implementation and management of contracts according to the approved strategy with an overriding commitment to health safety environment responsibility and sustainable development.

About the Role

  • Undertake sourcing develop contracts prepare for execution of new contracts and manage contract variations compliant with the BHP Charter Code of Conduct Group Level Documents (GLDs) Functional Level Requirements (FLRs) and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Assist in facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders to sponsor deeper relationships with all supply chain partners.
  • Liaise with other teams within BHP Supply on collaborative tendering strategies that deliver spend aggregation benefits.
  • Prepare the documentation for the review/approval process for the execution of variation/amendment requests for contracts to company guidelines.
  • Build and leverages supplier relationships to identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Work closely with Contract Owners to support contractor performance.
  • Apply intelligence on industry trends innovation and market dynamics to drive enhanced decision making and planning and demonstrates an understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain to enhance efficiency drive optimization and maximize value.
  • Issue RFx in alignment with sourcing/contracting strategy.
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims and invoicing.
  • Assist with making business decisions when working with international stakeholders/organizations based on an understanding of other countries norms and cultural nuances.

Work Location


This role will be based out of BHPs corporate office located in Tucson AZ. The associated work shdule will be 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

About You

  • Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Business Administration Supply Chain or associated discipline and up to 5 years experience working in Procurement or Supply Chain.
  • Proven experience in analysis and problem solving to develop business solutions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and significant Stakeholder Management experience.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrable analytical multi-tasking and organizational management skills.
  • Knowledge of establishing tender packages and bid evaluation agreements.
  • Proven ability to conduct analysis and interpret results to identify key opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of business improvement principles and practices
  • SAP/GCMS experience or experience in a mature Contract Management System (CMS) is preferred.
  • Inquisitive nature and flexibility to work in a team distributed across time zones.
