Overview

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Group 1 Automotive Inc. is seeking a Communications Manager. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about leading strategic internal communications resulting in increased employee engagement and uniting people around clear goals.

The Communication Manager is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies across all internal channels and GP1 social media crafting messaging that aligns with Group 1s brand. This person will manage communications to help maintain a positive and vibrant culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with Group 1s goals including key messages target audiences and communication channels. Establish and drive a multichannel communications strategy
  • Content Creation: Write and edit internal communications social media posts and other communication materials. Collaborate with leadership to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms. Develop the Group 1 brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms. Assist in the creation of digital video audio and print content
  • Crisis Communication: Execute communication plans to manage reputational issues during emergencies. Group 1 also has external agency support for crisis communications
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication channels maintaining brand identity and integrity
  • Internal Communications: Develop and manage internal communication strategies to keep employees informed about company updates initiatives and policies
  • Social Media Management: Develop Group 1s social media presence develop content calendars and execute strategy
  • Metrics and Analysis: Track key communication metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and identify areas for improvement
  • Presentation Development and Positioning for Leadership team: Help with thought leadership and presentations from quarterly board meetings to annual leadership conference
  • Employer Branding Proactively seek out opportunities that make Group 1 an employer of choice at all levels from technicians to salespeople. Partner with HR in identifying opportunities to connect with potential colleagues at different stages of the employee lifecycle
  • Future Facing: Engage with Group 1 vision develop and implement new and creative channels and content that supports engagement strategies company strategies and corporate objectives

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications journalism public relations or a related field
  • Experience working in global or national multioffice environment and collaborating with team members in different offices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A passion for writing and for helping people become clearer communicators
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities
  • Ideally has collaborated with HR on messaging around benefits and other employee perks
  • Proven experience in crisis communications
  • Deep understanding of digital and social media platforms
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies
  • Understand principles of copywriting graphic design layout and publishing
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing
  • Impeccable copywriting and copyediting abilities
