Global Kids Sports Specialist

Global Kids (GK) mission is to educate inspire and mobilize youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and are prepared for their future. Over its 36year history the organization has engaged thousands of young people in its innovative youth development programs that promote global awareness and action building their agency to effect change in their community and beyond.

We are seeking an experienced Sports Specialist to join our High School Team. The specialist will design and lead engaging activities that promote personal development academic enrichment and socialemotional learning for students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth and a talent for creating inclusive and stimulating environments. This is a seasonal position expected to end June 30 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation:

• Plan organize and coach a team of students for specific sports: basketball soccer or tennis

• Develop lesson plans that are ageappropriate culturally responsive and aligned with DYCD and Global Kids guidelines and standards.

• Facilitate activities that encourage teamwork leadership and positive social interactions.

Student Engagement and Support:

• Foster a safe welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.

• Encourage student participation and engagement in all activities.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with other staff members including the Program Director and the Director of Community Schools to ensure a cohesive and integrated program.

• Maintain open and effective communication with parents guardians and school staff.

• Participate in staff meetings training sessions and professional development opportunities.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Track and report on student progress and program outcomes.

• Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make necessary adjustments.

• Ensure compliance with all DYCD regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:

• Minimum of four years of experience working with young people in an educational or recreational setting.

• Minimum of two years of experience in coaching organized competitive sports particularly in basketball soccer or tennis

• Experience in planning and leading activities for diverse groups of students.

• Skills and Abilities:

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.

• Creativity enthusiasm and a commitment to youth development.

• Requirements:

• Ability to work 1015 hours per week the schedule is as follows.

• Most be available on Tuesdays Wednesdays 4 pm 7 pmand Saturdays 9 am 2 pm

• Successful completion of a background check.

• Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.

• Fluency in other languages is a plus (particularly Haitian Creole).

Hours/Wages/Benefits: Activity Specialists will be required to work April June during afterschool hours and Saturday mornings plus additional hours for any required training and preparation. Position is paid at $30$60 (based on qualifications) for 1015 hours per week. GK also offers paid vacation time off personal days and sick time. GK staff also have access to retail discounts through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
