Job Description
The Department of Mechanical Aerospace and Acoustical Engineering at the University of Hartford invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2025. Applicants from all areas of acoustical engineering and related fields will be considered but preference will be given to those in the areas of engineering acoustics vibrations noise control musical acoustics and/or acoustical design. The qualified applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree excellent potential and dedication to teaching research service and professional activities. Applications are sought from candidates who can help the department conduct innovative research and provide worldclass engineering education. The Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research teaching and/or service to inclusive excellence in the academic community. Responsibilities
This position supports the ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering (including a concentration in acoustics) and Aerospace Engineering as well as a unique Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Acoustical Engineering & Music. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in vibrations acoustics noise control and acoustics capstone design. Other teaching duties may include statics dynamics and acoustics designrelated courses. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in CETAs Acoustics Laboratories including reverberation and anechoic chambers. There are significant research collaboration opportunities with faculty within CETA as well as across the University. Opportunities for scholarly collaboration also exist through the CETA Engineering Applications Center which provides students and faculty the opportunity to work with industrial partners to solve realworld problems. An active scholarly/research/artistic agenda with peerreviewed publications presentations performances or other accomplishments in the field of acoustical engineering are expected for successful tenure and promotion. Service to the department college and university will include advising students in the Department of Mechanical Aerospace and Acoustical Engineering.

Required Qualifications
Required: An earned doctoral degree in acoustical engineering mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline; ABDs will be considered providing they document a degree completion date. Preferred: Experience teaching acoustics or related engineering discipline at the undergraduate level. Demonstrated potential to build an independent research program that includes undergraduate students. Demonstrated potential to educate and mentor students from a diverse background. Experience and/or interest in course and curriculum development. Experience and/or interest student recruitment retention and career preparation. Applied experience in acoustical engineering or other professional activity.
