Compensation Range: $24/hr $31/hr commensurate with experience.
Overview:
The Development Associate will work closely with members of Housing Works Development team on a variety of projects related to individual giving membership fundraising events and overall donor cultivation. This position is ideal for someone with strong communication and organizational skills experience with data entry and management a commitment to excellent customer service and a passion for serving communities in need.
Reporting to the Director of Development the Development Associate will support all aspects of the departments operations and collaborate closely with other key staff members including the Assoc. Director of Development Director of Events Assoc. Director of Corporate Partnerships and the VP of Development.
Primary responsibilities will include oversight of the donor database gift processing data entry and donor reports; donor acknowledgement and membership renewal process; and coordination with the Finance team on deposits invoice payments and monthly reconciliations. Additional responsibilities include overall support leading up to and during fundraising events and support with public communications. The Development Associate will serve as the main customer service contact for all donors fielding or delegating fundraising inquiries from public email accounts and phone.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
- Maintain and manage quality and integrity of donor database (Salesforce) to ensure it is a reliable resource for donor information and donations received.
- Process all donations received in mail online and through events; ensure proper gift coding; and prepare all donor acknowledgement letters.
- Assist Development Team with maintaining accurate and timely donor lists donation revenue reports and income reconciliation.
- Maintain system for processing all department invoices tracking all activity from invoice receipt through payment Interface with Finance Department on timely invoice management and payment.
- Execute Thrift Shop Membership mailing list generation and maintenance assist with Member renewal processes and work with mail house vendor on timely and effective Membership acknowledgment and gift fulfillment process.
- Serve as main customer service contact for donors and vendors and field all fundraising inquiries that come to general email inboxes or by phone; delegate inquires as appropriate.
- Provide support to events team including but not limited to event production support event vendor engagement eventrelated auction item outreach followup and management; assist with management of event ticketing and RSVP process; staff and manage event checkins (requires onsite physical presence at events).
Secondary:
- Prepare necessary materials for internal and external meetings for the Development Department including board meetings.
- Work with volunteers/interns as needed.
- Know the Housing Works Mission Statement and goals and be able to inform and discuss with others.
- BA/BS required
- 25 years of experience in nonprofit development setting preferred and/or in a professional environment utilizing similar skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and exercise good judgment as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Exceptional computer software skills including MS Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with database management (Salesforce preferred).
- Good writing editing and research skills.
- Comfort interacting with various stakeholders including donors staff volunteers board members and clients.
- Commitment to and knowledge of Housing Works mission to be able to communicate with various stakeholders.
- Must be able to remain in stationary position 7580 of the time.
- Frequently required to stand walk and/or traverse work locations.
- Constantly operates computer cell phone and other office equipment.
- Person in this position frequently communicates staff volunteers donors and vendors on all matters related to development and event operations. Must be able to exchange accurate/concise information in these situations.
