WRI India an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. WRI Indias mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earths environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of our generations. Through research analysis and recommendations WRI India puts ideas into action to build transformative solutions to protect the earth promote livelihoods and enhance human wellbeing.
We are inspired by and associated with World Resources Institute (WRI) a global research organisation. Currently over 300 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices in Delhi Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Climate Economics & Finance (CEF) Program at WRI India
At WRI India we believe that solving the climate crisis requires bold ideas rigorous analysis and effective communication and action. As part of the Climate Economics and Finance (CEF) Program we work on pioneering research and innovative solutions to accelerate Indias just and equitable lowcarbon transition. Our goal To ensure that Indias path to Net Zero is not just technically sensible but also economically viable and socially inclusive.
About the Role
You will seek a passionate and driven professional to contribute to Indias transition to a just inclusive and sustainable economy. As a Senior Program Associate Economics of Climate and Green Growth you will help balance sustainability with economic growth through research and policy development
- Lead Research & Modelling: Contribute to energyeconomy models sectoral roadmaps and policy scenarios that inform lowcarbon strategies at national or subnational levels.
- Solve Complex Climate Challenges: Use datadriven insights to develop innovative solutions for just transitions industrial decarbonization and climate resilience.
- Translate Research into Action: Deliver highquality publications that provide clear applicable recommendations for policymakers and industry leaders.
- Engage with Partners: Collaborate with government agencies industry leaders think tanks and civil society to cocreate scalable climate solutions.
How your day will unfold:
Research & Modelling
- Contribute to the development and cocreation of alternate climate policy scenarios for India at national or subnational levels with relevant partners. Interpret and analyse results in the context of lowcarbon development pathways for India.
- Contribute to quantitative research including development of sectoral decarbonization roadmaps policy analysis and thematic studies on topics related to energy transition economics.
Publications & Experience
- Produce highquality research publications policy briefs blogs and articles that translate research into clear insights
- Help develop new ideas frameworks tools and research methods to track and strengthen climate action planning and corporate climate action in India.
- Stay up to date with latest trends and policy landscape and sectoral developments about climate policy.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate engagement with partners through roundtables seminars workshops policy dialogues training and other communication and outreach activities.
What Were Looking For
- Postgraduate degree in climate science economics public policy engineering statistics environmental planning or a related field.
- 47 years of experience in energyeconomy modelling climate policy emissions modelling or sustainability research.
- Experienceleading research publications and policy briefs.
- Handson experience inquantitative analysis economic modelling and scenario planning.
- Proficiency in tools likeR Python STATA Vensim STELLA QGIS/ArcGIS.
- Exceptionalanalytical writing and communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Salary and Benefits:1400000INRCTC Per annum
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
