Job Description

Position Overview

The Director of Family Services (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) leads all familycentered programming and operations at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford one of the largest medical housing facilities in the world with 123 guest rooms that provide overnight lodging for families accessing lifesaving treatment at Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital Stanford (LPCHS). The Director will ensure an environment that is welcoming safe and responsive to the unique psychosocial needs of families experiencing pediatric medical crises.

As a licensed social worker and senior leader the Director integrates clinical insight into family care team leadership and strategic program development. This role oversees Guest Services Housing and Programs. The Director will play a key role in coordinating with LPCHS and other hospital and nonprofit partners.

This role is poised for growth with the opportunity to help shape the organizations regional model develop a culturally responsive service framework and streamline the accommodation process for families.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead mentor and manage the family services teams ensuring the highest level of service for the families hospital partners and community.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff to ensure they are equipped to handle diverse family needs and challenging situations.
  • Develop implement and evaluate policies and procedures that align with RMHC Bay Areas mission values and goals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture ensuring staff receive ongoing training and support to address the emotional psychological and practical needs of families.
  • Working closely with VP of Operations serve as a thought leader within RMHC Bay Area sharing best practices from a social work perspective and contributing to organizational development and growth.

Family Services Oversight:

  • Oversee the 24/7 accommodations process ensuring an empathetic and efficient experience for families.
  • Oversee front desk and program operations to ensure a seamless familycentered service experience.
  • Integrate clinical social work practices into daily operations including traumainformed approaches crisis intervention and culturally competent care.
  • Partner with Family Support Services a clinical psychology training program to provide support for the most complex family cases.
  • Manage operational policies budgets procedures and compliance including adherence to local state and RMHC Global guidelines.
  • Develop and implement metrics to evaluate guest experience program impact and operational efficiency.

Community Partnerships & Volunteers:

  • Collaborate with Volunteer Services to ensure meaningful integration of volunteers into the Program experience.
  • Build strategic relationships with local agencies nonprofits and community groups to enhance support services and drive innovation.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Active LCSW licensure in the State of California required.

Experience

  • Minimum 68 years of professional experience in clinical social work family services housing coordination or healthcare settings.
  • At least 35 years in a supervisory or management role preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with culturally and socioeconomically diverse families preferably navigating pediatric illness or trauma.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs drive process improvements and manage crosssector partnerships.

Skills & Competencies

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Staff management including goal setting and goal management personnel compliance.
  • Deep understanding of traumainformed care and cultural responsiveness.
  • Strong clinical judgment and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using CRM tools case management platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfort working in a semimedical environment including with children experiencing lifethreatening conditions.

Other

  • Valid CA drivers license.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Available for evening/weekend emergency calls from the team.

Salary Hours and Benefits

The salary for this position is $annually depending on experience. This is a fulltime salaried (exempt) position based on a 40hour workweek. Once fully staffed and trained this role will be offered flexibility in their schedule supporting a healthy worklife balance.

RMHC Bay Area offers a competitive benefits package including 403(b) with 5 company contributions health dental and vision insurance and more.
