The Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management advances the University of Oregons tradition of excellence by enrolling and retaining highachieving scholars from Oregon across the country and around the world. We work on behalf of prospective students current students and their families through each phase of the enrollment process: the college search admission registration financial aid matriculation transition and onward to graduation.
The Office of the Registrar is responsible for academic and classroom scheduling student registration enrollment verification grading and academic records maintenance transfer credit articulation degree audits monitoring core education requirements degree awarding student data/statistical analysis veterans benefits FERPA compliance and transcript services. These responsibilities assignments and services are completed within institutional policies and standards as well as related state and federal laws and regulations.
This position supports the programming and maintenance of Ducks on Track (Degree Works) the degree audit software program. Ducks on Track provides students and advisors with accurate consistent and comprehensive online audits of student progress toward general education major and minor requirements as approved in the University of Oregon academic catalog.
The main responsibility of this position is to create apply and document standard practices for exception processing in Ducks on Track. This requires understanding academic program requirements curriculum structure and university policies as well as researching best practices for configurations in the program. Additionally the Curriculum Specialist runs exceptions reports in Ducks on Track to identify and address unhooked and unenforced exceptions. Other reporting software such as Cognos may be used for additional curriculum analysis.
The Curriculum Specialist provides backup support for other areas of Ducks on Track including researching programming specifications; identifying alternate scribing patterns; and contributing to the development testing debugging implementation and documentation of scribing solutions. The employee works closely with the Degree Audit Specialist; the Catalog and Curriculum Specialist; the Associate Registrar for Scheduling Curriculum and Catalog; academic units; and department partners to accurately represent program requirements in Ducks on Track.
This position requires understanding and knowing the University policies and curriculum.
Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing word processing or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associates degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a yearforyear basis.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to think logically and sequentially.
Ability to analyze complex academic rules and encoding problems.
Ability to learn to interpret technical manuals and apply the information garnered from them.
Ability to work under pressure and with students and others in a professional manner.
Ability to make decisions related to the release of confidential information and records routinely.
Experience using Degree Works or other degree audit software.
Experience using Banner student information system.
Familiarity with University of Oregon academic policies and curriculum.
Experience running and analyzing reports.
