The Safety Sitter works under the direction of a Registered Nurse with the primary role of maintaining patient safety through 1:1 monitoring with continuous visual observation of the atrisk patient.
Staff assigned as 1:1 safety sitters should provide all routine personal care hygiene toileting activities ambulation range of motion (ROM) assist with meals measure intake and output (I&Os) vitals repositioning purposeful rounding safety checks and documentation of such in the patients medical record. Sitters are encouraged to have therapeutic interactions such as conversations playing games offering safe diversional activities coloring reading to patient supervising cell phone usage etc.
When not working as a 1:1 safety sitter one will transition into the role of a Senior Patient Care Tech on inpatient units or as an ED Tech within the Emergency Department which include but are not limited to performing cardiac testing monitoring running EKGs performs direct patient care such as bathing assisting with elimination bed making and vital signs. Transports patients and patientrelated materials in a safe timely and professional manner. Greets and orients patients to the patient care area. Performs meal service and feeding assistance functions. Provides additional select care to patients. Collaborates with other team members to perform other services as directed.
When not working as a 1:1 safety sitter one will transition into the role of a Senior Patient Care Tech on inpatient units and as an ED Tech within the Emergency Department. Including but not limited to performing cardiac testing monitoring running EKGs obtaining vital signs
Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude toward problemsolving.
