Description of Job

This is a fulltime position assigned to Facilities Services at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB). The Facilities Services work unit exists to provide installation fabrication maintenance and support of all buildings and grounds of CSDB located in Colorado Springs CO and any associated equipment or systems. The purpose of the work unit is also to ensure the safety of all students and staff at CSDB who may utilize such systems. Duties include but are not limited to:

CUSTODIAN III

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:
Two 2 years of custodial experience in an occupational field related to the work assignment; i.e. custodial experience in a school / residential / hospital / institutional setting. NOTE: One 1 full year of experience is equivalent to 2080 hours. All experience must be described in detail on the (online) application to receive credit.
Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of position requires heavy lifting (following appropriate safety requirements).
  • Custodian positions at CSDB are designated as essential services positions and the persons selected for these positions arerequired to be on duty to perform essential and/or emergency services of the State / school without delay or interruption to ensure health safety and welfare regardless of inclement weather conditions.
  • Shift Workrequired: afternoon or evening shift work (based upon agency need); eligible for shift differential.
  • This Custodian III position at CSDB is exempt from overtime compensation.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) skill level to be determined or applicants must be willing and able to attain proficiency at the level required within a specified period of time as demonstrated by an appropriate assessment tool and according to school policy/procedures.
  • Selected applicant(s) will be required to submit to and pass a background check to include Colorado and Federal criminal history checks employment verification and professional/personal reference checks.
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of and ability to assess and apply technology to perform the requirements of the position; ability to effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications which may include but is not limited to email Internet word processing electronic calendar presentation development spreadsheet database etc.;willingness to stay current and develop skills as needed with or without direct support from CSDB.
  • Ability to respond effectively and positively to feedback; ability to participate effectively in a team setting and to work independently; strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective organizational skills; effective problemsolving skills.
  • A courteous professional and helpful attitude in the role of CSDB representative.

Appeal Rights: (Updated)
