Job Description

Position Summary

The Information Technology and Records Management Department is looking for an AfterHours Systems Administrator II to perform system administrator jobs and tasks supporting Metros evening operations.

As the AfterHours Systems Administrator II you will

  • Provide technical assistance and support to Metros evening and weekend operations.
  • Install and configure common IT infrastructure technology.
  • Work with higher level Systems Administrators to coordinate the installation of advanced IT Infrastructure technology.
  • Resolve common network infrastructure server and operating system issues.
  • Monitor network operations under supervision of higherlevel Systems Administrators.
  • Troubleshoot problems and ensure that equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and backup activities.
  • Support agency sustainability and equity goals by replacing old IT infrastructure equipment particularly at sites and locations that may be otherwise overlooked.
  • Perform common IT infrastructure updates.

  • Has a solid understanding of and experience in the concepts practices and procedures for trouble shooting and diagnostic testing of network issues including network operating systems (hardware and software).

  • Evaluates and/or recommends purchases.
  • Familiarity with basic system administration tools and processes.
  • Fundamental understanding of an operating system.
  • Understands configuration and installation of network operating systems and common network applications.

Minimum qualifications

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to perform those activities necessary to complete the essential functions of the job either with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires continuous and/or frequent standing walking fingering talking and repetitive motions of hand/wrists hearing and handling. It also requires occasional stooping crawling reaching feeling and repetitive motions of feet sitting bending kneeling and the ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

Schedule

This positions hours will be nights and weekends typically Thursday to Monday 2pm to 11pm. Some variance can be made for scheduling but the majority of the hours will be in the evening.

Hybrid Telework

At this time this position is designated as hybrid telework. You will have the option to work away from the office although there may be times that coming into the office will be required. The manager will work with you to identify a schedule that balances the operational needs of the department and your needs. Employees must reside in Oregon or Washington to work at Metro

COMPENSATION BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATON

The fullsalary range for this position is step 1. $84760.00 to step 7. $113630.40.However unless a candidates qualifications justify based on theOregon Pay Equity Act requirements and Metros internal equity review process the appointment will likely be made between step 1. $84760.00 to the equity range step 4. $98155.20.

This position is not eligible for overtime and is represented by AFSCME 3580. It is classified as a Systems Administrator II classification.
