The University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for Senior Research Compliance Administrator UNLV Sponsored Programs Post Award R0147143
This position is located in Las Vegas Nevada in the Office of Sponsored Programs on the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus.
ROLE of the POSITION
Primary Job Duties
This position will be responsible to monitor awards and to ensure compliance in the areas related to Sponsored Projects Financial Compliance. Areas of focus will be Sub Recipient Monitoring Effort Reporting Salary over the Cap CostSharing Progress/Financial reports monitoring and Audit. This position will work alongside the Associate Director for PostAward and Financial Compliance to help develop and roll out compliance processes and procedures and work very closely with the Post Award team to ensure award requirements are met. This position uses Workday extensively and oversees the business process for many of these Financial Compliance areas.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations as well as internal best practices. Serves as a resource and provides assistance and training written and verbal for University personnel to ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance sponsor guidelines and University policies.
Contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Point person for the Workday effort reporting process: runs and distributes reports from the system and handles entire process through to certification. Monitors progress sends notifications and works with departments to resolve issues and ensure timely certification of reports.
Responsible for tracking and monitoring all the costsharing requirements on externally funded projects. Compiles and reports costsharing information used in various reports and surveys.
Work with PostAward and departmental staff to ensure accuracy of reported costsharing.
Apply knowledge to the interpretation and analysis of grant documents
Assist with the follow up to ensure timely submission of progress and financial reports
Serves as point of contact for all internal/external audits desk reviews and surveys. Responds to and handles all requests.
Work with OSP staff and other campus offices to pull and provide documentation support for the annual audit.
Work closely with OSP leadership and other campus units in communicating issues and updates related to audit. Respond to sponsor requests for Uniform Guidance/Single Audit Report requests providing reports and management letter information regarding finding impacts to funded sponsored research.
Assist with application of process improvements policy and procedure development and modification as recommended from the audits
Monitor awards for Salary over the Cap calculation which includes: running reports to ensure costing allocations are updated for all DHHS awards for Salary over the Cap. Check to ensure that costing allocations have been entered by the departments for the respective individuals.
Work to resolve issues related to the calculations for Salary over the Cap.
Routinely reviews award information related to award requirements and reporting deadlines.
Tracks the submission of technical and financial reports and ensures that Workday award tasks are complete and reports uploaded. Does follow up with departmental personnel on delinquent submission.
Administers the process for sub recipient monitoring upon throughout award life cycle. Reviews monthly renewing sub awards for risk and audit review. Monitors the status of sub awards issued and ending cycles.
Works with Grants and Contracts and sub recipients to reduce risk.
Represent post award administration concerns on ad hoc work groups and other campus units to resolve identified research administration issues
Lead training for new personnel and participate in and contribute to process improvements.
Maintain expertise in federal state and university regulations policies and procedures
Regularly review federal sponsor policies and proposal guides and participate in webinars trainings or conferences to keep updated on ever changing regulatory compliance pertaining to grants and contracts.
Work independently or with others on various projects such as surveys policy/procedure development form development or special reports.
Assist in the preparation of the Universitys facilities and administrative cost proposal.
Gather information and pull reports utilized for the completion/submission of various surveys and reports.
KNOWLEDGE
Required
Experience with Federal grants and postaward grants administration analysis and reconciliation of grant accounts
Knowledge of fund accounting grants accounting and the functional areas of sponsored programs administration (especially post award administration and compliance)
General understanding of the nature and requirements of sponsored project contracts grants cooperative agreements billing and invoicing
Understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and nonFederal sponsors supporting research and educational activities
Possess extensive knowledge of major funding sources and their unique policies and procedures
Preferred
Previous Workday experience to include grants module
Previous Cayuse experience to include awards
Knowledge of the functional areas of sponsored program administration (Preaward through Postaward) and a good general knowledge of the nature of research in all academic disciplines
Previous Cayuse experience
CRA or CFRA Certification
Possess knowledge of federal procurement regulations including the CFR & FAR agency CFR/FAR implementations and the Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200 and audit regulations (Single Audit) that pertain to institutions of higher education
SKILLS
Required
Strong organizational and communication skills with an ability to work independently and as part of a team
Extensive proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; and ability to use and execute advanced Excel functions to work with complex data
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro; and the ability to combine and edit PDFs
Strong computer systems and technology proficiency including experience with Workday
Demonstrated customer service focus and an ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and effectively presenting ideas answering questions and documenting activities.
Strong analytical organizational and interpersonal skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires aBachelors Degreefrom an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and3 5 years of experience in accounting finance and/or compliance monitoring in a private or public sector. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) 5 7 years experience in accounting or finance 1 3 years of supervisory experience 1 3 years of management experience.
SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Salary range $90000 $100000 dependent on experience.
