Position Overview

This is a regular student clerical position in which the student will perform computer and customer servicerelated duties as the Student Success Center Assistant. Typical duties may include but are not limited to typing filing answering telephones customer service scheduling appointments and Microsoft Office experience.

Hours per Week

  • As needed up to 25 hours per week maximum during the fall and spring semesters.
  • As needed up to 35 hours per week maximum during summer semesters.

The Student Success Center at UCO offers personalized advisement career guidance and workshops to help students achieve their goals.

Department Specific Job Functions

The Student Success Center Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Greeting office visitors.
  • Printing transcripts for the next days appointments.
  • Submitting forms and transcripts to the appropriate Advisor.
  • Uploading documents.
  • Filtering and responding to emails.
  • Answering the phone and checking voice messages.
  • Loading printer paper.
  • Making sure all computer programs are open and logged into at the start of business.
  • Emptying the recycle bin and shred pile cleaning desk area computer keyboard and mouse at the close of business.
  • Corresponding with Business Advisors and MBA/MSBA Advisors to check if there are any errands.
  • Assisting students with questions concerns and directions referring students to the appropriate campus resources.
  • Scheduling advisement appointments monitoring student signin sheet during walkin times making sure students are scheduled with the correct Advisor.

The Student Success Center Assistant will be responsible for the following expectations:

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times while representing the College of Business as a desk worker.
  • Positively represent UCO and the College of Business both inside and outside of work.
  • Be on time for all desk shifts.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least halftime to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Halftime enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled fulltime to be eligible to work as a student employee. Fulltime enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact for more information.
