Job Description

Position Title:

Athletics Tutorial Coordinator/Academic Coordinator

Job Group:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coordinating a student services program that manages a high volume of parttime workers.
Experience working in student services and/or an academic support program in higher education.
Working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and providing academic or student services to collegiate studentathletes.

Job Description:

ISU Athletics Department is accepting applications for a student services specialist II to serve as Athletics Tutorial Coordinator/Academic Coordinator. The position plays a vital role in the academic success and personal development of our busy and talented NCAA division I studentathletes.

What youll do:

  • Manage the tutorial service program and oversee scheduling needs for 400 students;
  • Hire train schedule match tutor/mentors with students evaluate performance approve timesheets and handle escalated issues;
  • Maintain Navigate database with timely session summaries;
  • Analyze data and prepare regular progress reports;
  • Provide counseling (academic and personal skill development) to studentathletes in assigned sport(s);
  • Develop and implement learning strategies to facilitate the academic development of studentathletes;
  • Assist students concerning degree planning academic support services course selection athletic eligibility requirements graduation requirements degree certification degree auditing etc;
  • Monitor and evaluate academic progress and eligibility of studentathletes through graduation and proactively update coach and academic leaders of potential issues;
  • Participate in recruiting visits by providing engaging academic presentations;
  • Advise students and coaches on policies and procedures;
  • Perform duties ethically and in compliance withNCAA Big 12 Conference and institutional policies and standards for athletics and university eligibility.

This position requires solid analytical organizational written and verbal communication presentation motivational and interpersonal skills along with high academic integrity. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. This position requires the ability to occasionally meet with students or prospects outside regular office hours that can include some evening or weekend meetings.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Provides guidance to students
