Job Description

PERSON SPECIFICATION
NOTES TO JOB APPLICANTS
  1. You must clearly demonstrate on your application form under each question how and to what extent you meet the required criteria as failure to do so may result in you not being shortlisted. You should clearly demonstrate this for both the essential and desirable criteria where relevant.
  2. You must demonstrate how you meet the criteria by the closing date for applications unless the criteria state otherwise.
  3. The stage in the process when the criteria will be measured is outlined in the table below.
  4. Shortlisting will be carried out on the basis of the essential criteria set out in Section 1 below using the information provided by you on your application form.
  5. Please note that the Selection Panel reserves the right toshortlist only those applicants that it believes most strongly meet thecriteria for the role.
  6. In the event of an excessive number of applications the Selection Panel also reserves the right to apply any desirable criteria asoutlined in Section 3 at shortlisting in which case these will be applied in the order listed. It is important therefore that you also clearly demonstrate on your application form how you meet any desirable criteria.

Hold a teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grantaided schools in Northern Ireland including special educational needsby the date of taking up duty.

Experience

6 months demonstrable experience of teaching in a Speech & Language Specialist Provision class attached to a primary school

Demonstrableexperience of writing PLPs using SIMS for children in a Speech & Language Specialist Provision class attached to a primary school.

Demonstrableexperience of liaising with Speech & Language Therapists to support and meet the DLD needs of pupils within a Speech & Language Specialist Provision class attached to a primary school

Demonstrableexperience of using a range of effective classroom approaches to provide support to children with Social Communication and Interaction Needs.

Demonstrable knowledge of outdoor play learning programmes for example Forest Schools.

Awareness of a range of strategies and resources includingvisual timetables taskboards andschedulesto support the delivery of content for pupils with special educational need/s.

Ability to work collaboratively to promote positive relationships with pupils colleagues parents and the wider community

Ability to work as an effective member of a team

Experience of using cued articulation strategies to enhance teaching and learning opportunities for children in a Speech & Language Specialist Provision class attached to a mainstream school.

Demonstrable experience of at least 12 months paid experience supporting children with behavioural needs in a primary school setting.

Demonstrable experience of using ICT to support the learning of children with SEN.
