Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains sits one of the oldest community colleges in Colorado Arapahoe Community College. The Director of Budget & Planning will lead the colleges annual budget development process collaborating with program managers and department leads to establish effective financial management systems and ensure sound fiscal practices. They will oversee monthly budget monitoring activities and provide timely accurate analysis to help departments stay on track and within allocated resources.
In addition to budget oversight the Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust revenue projections by analyzing historical trends enrollment data and economic indicators. They will lead longrange financial planning initiatives in partnership with senior leadership to promote institutional sustainability and guide strategic decisionmaking. The role includes building financial models to assess proposed projects conducting scenario analyses to evaluate fiscal risk and offering insights that inform both operational and strategic planning. They will also manage internal and external budget reporting ensuring clarity and transparency for both campus stakeholders and external partners.
They will evaluate budget requests assess financial and operational impacts and provide recommendations that align with strategic goals. A key advisor to leadership the Director will help departments develop datadriven proposals and ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit standards.
Bachelors degreeor higherfrom an accredited college or university in Accounting Business Administration Finance Economics or a closely related field.
Five5years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting accountingorfinancial planningand analysis.
Strong understanding ofGovernmental Accounting Standards Board GASBaccounting and financial reporting standards for state and local governments.
Proficiencyin Microsoft Office suite including excellent Excel skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accounting license.
Experience in higher educationfinancial management.
Familiarity with CORE Banner COGNOS and organizational budget software platforms.
