With expanded knowledge of research development and with increasing independence this role supports and implements a wide range of strategic proactive and capacity building activities designed to enable and enhance research and may include strategic research advancement communication of research and research opportunities enhancement of collaboration and team science and proposal development.
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilites: Proficient with all the duties and responsibilities of a Research Development Associate I Identify areas of institutional research priorities by collaborating with Faculty and/or Principal Investigators and other key personnel for strategic research. Coordinate resources and tools to promote collaboration. Serve as institutional representatives to the university community and external visitors and may provide information and analysis to support formal partnerships with external entities. Begin to manage initiatives related to strategic research via project management and central team coordination. Provide strategic advice on making proposals competitive by editing and reviewing proposal drafts and writing nontechnical proposal components. Provide proposal and award informationrelated metrics. Disseminate grant opportunities and proposal development tools Executes communication strategies to inform internal and external stakeholders of research operations Demonstrates an understanding of the program officer structure (and potential interactions) and can coach faculty on how to conduct smart outreach; Develops content and structure for unit programming Convene and coordinate research interest groups; Organize and execute interdisciplinary community building activities Colead/CoReview large interdisciplinary proposal teams w/ more experienced RD Professionals Issues are varied and involve some evaluation and interpretation. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences with analysis of the issue requiring innovation and creativity. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree two years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
