Job Description

Vanir is seeking a Project Director with proven leadership quality and strong communication skill who can build on our continued success in various sectors along the Central Coast of California.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The primary duties of a successful Project Director will focus on providing the planning coordination and direction for projects and programs. Duties include ensuring individual projects and programs are on budget and schedule and the design fits the clients requirements. This position will support design and construction and will be responsible for client interface scope schedule and budget tasks as well as managing staff as senior leadership in the field. This position will report to the Area Manager.

Employee development including coaching mentoring supervisory and training techniques
Supervise project team and ensures quality services consistent with Vanir procedures client goals and contract responsibilities on areas of safety performance and project staff
Develop an implementation plan and master schedule that reflects the priorities of the client
Responsible for timely completion of all deliverables required by the client
Financial reporting to the client
Develop and review contract documents
Report and collaborate with clients senior management team on all project matters
Produce and assist marketing in Proposal Production
Document and report all program/project data accurately and in a timely manner
Manage program controls cost schedule performance activities and procedures required by the client
Track all program and project level status and provide management reports relative to scheduling cost control staffing and other related contract requirements
Market projects attend local and state conferences
Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully
Develop recommended actions and assist in resolving disputes relative to design and construction
Provide management of program logistics organization safety and manpower utilization
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure program and project success

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Architecture Construction Management or Engineering is required
Minimum of 9 years of experience as a Construction Manager and an additional 3 years of experience as a Senior Construction Manager supervising staff is preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills are required
Knowledge and application of construction estimating cost project controls/scheduling documentation engineering/construction principles techniques materials applications and practices are required
Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products and experience with projectrelated Construction Management systems are required
Ability to handle multiple contractors and multiple fastpaced projects simultaneously is required
Registration as a Certified Construction Manager Architect Professional Engineer and/or licensed as a General Contractor is preferred

Certificates or Licenses

  • CMAA Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred
  • DBIA Design Build Associate or Professional certification is preferred
  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer is preferred
