This is an outstanding opportunity to join a vibrant and collegial academic environment and work in a childrens hospital ranked as one of the best in the U.S. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist with expertise in heart failure mechanical circulatory support pre and posttransplant and ventricular assistant devise VAD patients cardiac transplantation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ECMO to serve as the Section Chief of Advanced Cardiac Therapies and Transplantation. The Heart Failure Program is comprised of 4 faculty 4 advanced practice providers and 4 pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons. The Section Chief will serve as the lead cardiologist in the newly created Section of Advanced Cardiac Therapies and Transplantation sharing all clinical aspects educational efforts program development and quality improvement initiatives associated with the service. Division members are expected to rotate in covering general cardiology night and weekend call with other Division members. Division members participate in general cardiology outpatient clinic and inpatient service in addition to duties in their areas of expertise. Clinical responsibilities may also include seeing patients in an outreach clinic setting. Clinical duties will be carried out at Primary Children Hospital and the divisions outreach sites. In addition to clinical service there is both opportunity and expectation for academic work including education investigation/research and administration as well as advocacy. There will be protected time for these efforts with a wellestablished support structure expected benchmarks and both breadth and depth in mentoring available within the Division. Established in 1991 the heart failure and transplant program has seen continuous growth performing 12 to 15 transplants and 10 to 12 VADs per year exceeding the national standard of survival for 1 to 3 years. The program also has an integrated Fontan/heart failure program. Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology with focused training and expertise in Heart Failure Cardiomyopathy and Transplant. A fourth year of additional training in pediatric heart failure is required. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
