This position is located at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC) in Wimauma Florida (Hillsborough County). The role reports directly to the IFAS FPO Maintenance Supervisor and supports the Center staff with a variety of facilityrelated tasks.
Responsibilities include performing building and preventative maintenance on office buildings greenhouses storage areas and growth rooms. The role also involves general repairs such as lighting ceiling tiles HVAC plumbing electrical and flooring.
The employee will assist with outdoor maintenance including mowing trimming weeding mulching planting and irrigation system upkeep. Additional duties include pressure washing carpentry painting equipment inspections roof inspections and minor roof repairs. Some tasks may require driving a state vehicle to different work sites.

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in multiple trades or a high school diploma and four years of relevant experience is strongly preferred. A traderelated journeyman license is also preferred though not required.
Appropriate vocational or technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the preferred experience.
Knowledge of proper use of carpentry tools
Familiarity with selecting appropriate tools for specific tasks
Skill in performing finished carpentry work
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision
