Job Summary
Provides computer support by troubleshooting and correcting problems with computer hardware or software applications. Hybrid position made up of technician and entrylevel computer positions (including tier 1 help desk support entrylevel network technician entrylevel programmer). Assist instructors and students by operating classroom Interactive Video Conference IVC and computer equipment essential to delivering synchronous instruction across remote campuses. May install and upgrade computer hardware and software applications. Creates and maintains databases network accounts and programs for specific departmental needs. Backs up department computer systems on scheduled intervals. Serves as a help desk resource for assigned areas.
Responsibilities
Assist instructors and students by managing/operating classroom technology essential for the operation of IVC classrooms. Troubleshoot technical problems and work with St. George and Salt Lake City staff to resolve. Interact and communicate professionally with faculty students and staff. Provide basic desktop support for University of Utah Physician Assistant Studies faculty staff and students at the Salt Lake City campus. Maintain a system log for the IVC classroom systems. Provide timely updates on technology or classroom issues. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Provide ongoing support for IVC systems including audio/video testing trouble ticket issues and routine maintenance of classroom technology. Other duties as assigned. Seldom: Bending reaching overhead.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in a computer related field and two years of experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Demonstrated computer skills human relations and effective communication skills are required. This is a WorkStudy position. Students must have been awarded a Federal WorkStudy Award for the current year and be enrolled in classes at the U during their time of employment.
