The Boeing Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) program area is working on several new development efforts for the Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC3 RF seeker and is looking for an experienced Radar Seeker System Engineer to support these efforts at the Boeing Jetplex facility in Huntsville Alabama.
Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) PAC3 program is an airdefense missile system designed to intercept tactical ballistic missiles cruise missiles and advanced aircraft where Boeing is the original engineering manufacturer of the seeker. Boeings radar seekers provide target data to the PAC3 missile which enables it to acquire intercept and destroy threats using hittokill technology. The PAC3 Seeker team is a cross functional highly skilled motivated group embracing the beliefs that focused safety and lean manufacturing and business practices will secure our future all while driving our product to be the seeker of choice for the PAC3 program and future generations of weapon systems.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead critical technical development efforts as a senior subject matter expert on RF theory digital signal processing and radar concepts.
Develop algorithms for radar signal processing techniques such as Kalman filtering probabilistic and statistical modeling and measurement processing from pulsedDoppler waveforms.
Design algorithms that process signal returns into discriminated targets and track targets through mission timeline.
Define system performance requirements and ensure interface definition supports various functional components of the seekers and missiles architecture.
Conduct analysis to optimize total systemofsystems performance or system architecture as applied to algorithmic functionality pertaining to the acquisition and tracking of targets.
Analyze seeker simulation data to identify areas for improvement and guide recommendations for system robustness in the presence of challenging operational environments.
Analyze algorithm performance with a focus on survivability vulnerability and susceptibility to identify necessary modifications to ensure mission success.
Review and modify the application of general digital signal processing techniques to the processing of reradiated signal content to ensure accurate signal characteristic identification.
Mentor earlycareer engineers and inexperienced DSP/algorithm engineers through regular knowledge transfer.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5 years of experience with radar systems analysis or design.
5 years of experience in Digital Signal Processing or Digital Communications algorithms and techniques (equalization turbo/viterbi coding/decoding channel estimation filter design resampling theory etc..
Experience in digital signal processing theory including the application of fundamental digital signal processing techniques.
Experience with MATLAB for data analysis or modeling and simulation.
Experience in pulse Doppler radar system architectures and design/test practices.
Experience working with operating radar systems and Electronic Warfare designs and testing.
Knowledge of linear signal theory Fourier transforms and communication theory.
RF electrical transmission signal processing and modeling in MATLAB.
System test experience including test design implementation and for breadboard and brassboard hardware.
Experience working in a fastpaced independent research and development (IRAD) environment.
Familiarity with multiple programming languages and development environments (C ADA Python etc. in an Agile environment.
Experience in formal technical writing (i.e. Whitepapers TechNotes Technical Journals and Research Reports).
Experience in Technology Readiness Level (TRL) maturation of novel technologies and concepts.
