R. J. Corman Railroad Company seeks candidates for the position of Director of Railroad Operations Central East Region to ensure the safe profitable operation and continuity of the short line railroad company and other assigned entities. Successful candidates will be responsible for the Central region of our network of operations with operations in North Carolina South Carolina Tennessee Kentucky West Virginia etc.
Responsibilities: The Director will provideeffective general direction and oversight of transportation operations and uphold the following responsibilities:
- Build a Safety Culture focused on rules compliance with corporate policies and federal state and local regulations.
- Communicate site level and executive needs to appropriate parties
- Develop and retain qualified personnel by supporting hiring and training processes
- Establish and maintain accurate financial budgeting cost control and reporting.
- Provide internal stakeholders from various departments with support feedback and guidance as needed.
- Lead all levels of RJ Corman employees in safety compliance continuous improvement and operations.
- Foster longterm relationships with the customers by providing excellent service without interruptions facilitating and participating in customer meetings reviewing KPIs and eliminating safety concerns.
- Support RJC priority to be the best and look good by ensuring organization and cleanliness of equipment.
- Ensure all coworkers leaders customers are treated with professionalism and tact.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge or Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in business administration or equivalent experience.
- Current FRA Conductor and Engineer certification preferred.
- Demonstrated financial management acumen from course work and/or business experience is essential.
- 5 years in railroad transportation operations with specific experience in the management of service delivery.
- Minimum of three years experience managing subordinate departments and management and professional personnel. Travel required and relocation assistance is available.
