We offer one of the only Counselor Education Programs that provides students with a combination of inperson hybrid and online classroom delivery options in the state and continue to be a leading program in the Northeast. We are seeking applicants for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor for the Fall semester of 2025. We welcome applicants in School Counseling.
Graduates of the school counseling program are eligible for Maine certification as school counselors. In some cases school counseling students can apply to receive their conditional school counseling certification if they complete certain courses and credit hours while enrolled in the program. New faculty members should possess expertise in counseling theories skills and practices to support students in achieving these licenses and certifications.
The Counselor Education department philosophy is to prepare our graduates to act as facilitators of change in the lives of individuals at all developmental levels. By modeling high standards of professionalism and offering a foundation of knowledge skills selfawareness and practice the Counselor Education program aspires to prepare counselors of the highest quality to work in schools mental health agencies businesses hospitals rehabilitation organizations private practice and other settings.
The targeted starting date for these positions will begin in the Fall semester of 2025 and will pay an annual salary of $65000. This is primarily an on campus inperson teaching position. Candidates must reside within commutable distances from the USM campuses. This requirement is essential for the ability to participate in supporting and building upon our university culture of student focused every day and allows for regular participation in oncampus activities meetings and fulfills the responsibilities of the role effectively.

*If a candidate is hired prior to completion of their doctoral program they will be hired at the Lecturer rank and corresponding pay rate until they have provided evidence of completion of their program which is required no later than December 31 2027.
