As part of the Computational Science and Informatics division we specialize in developing stateoftheart whole slide image scanners and advanced AI algorithms. The Opportunity:

At Roche we believe out of the box to develop sophisticated analytics that benefit patients today and tomorrow. We are looking for a dedicated intern to join our team of imaging scientists and software engineers for an exciting and ambitious internship. In this position you will lead the exploration of innovative computer vision techniques for pathology image analysis and devise novel deep learning algorithms with potential applications in the broader healthcare regime. You will be connected with other interns from various analytics teams across the organization and work on an innovative project in digital pathology by applying advanced analytics and machine learning approaches to the companys realworld imaging data.

• Collaborate with the team and other stakeholders to evaluate stateoftheart computer vision techniques and applications in pathology image analysis particularly with deeplearning and machinelearning approaches

• Devise implement and interpret deep learning algorithms to address selected research questions in digital pathology

• Proactively share findings and knowledge to support the development of the wider Roche community

• Help shape the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence within Roche.

Who You Are:

• Must be enrolled in a MSc/PhD program in Biomedical Engineering Statistics Mathematics Data Science Electrical Engineering Computer Science or related field; PhD candidate preferred.

Preferred:

• Indepth knowledge of machine learning and deep learning with a focus on imaging data especially biomedical imaging.

• Experience with omic data analysis and large language model (LLM) or multimodal analysis is advantageous.

• Proficiency in parallelization HPC cluster computing Python deep learning frameworks and reproducible research practices (like Git).

• Strong communication and collaboration skills coupled with a passion for applying machine learning to healthcare.

• Preferred experience includes publications in top conferences/journals and contributions to open source projects.

Additional Information:

• Location: Hybrid Mississauga ON minimum 3 days in the office.

• Available for an internship between June 2025 and Dec 2025.

• Hours: fulltime 35 hours per week)

• Length: 6 months
