Context of the Project:

UN Womens Womens Economic Empowerment Unit focuses on approaches to provide comprehensive solutions for marginalized young women and women to return to education upskill themselves and establish enterprises. Through its various projects/interventions in the areas of education employment and entrepreneurship including focus on climate and climate technologies WEE offers women their families local communities with benefits tailored to their needs as learners and earners.
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst WEE (CORE) the Programme Associate will support in management of financial and administrative activities of the programme coordinate with relevant team members including the operations team implementing partner organisations and other stakeholders as necessary to support successful implementation of Programmes.

In July 2010 the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW OSAGI INSTRAW and UNIFEM) which focused exclusively on gender equality and womens empowerment.
