Job Description

Job Title:Student Employment: Student Engagement Operations ManagerDepartment:Office of Student EngagementStudent Employment Type:Federal WorkStudy and NonFederal WorkStudyResponsibilities:
  • Enforce policies and procedures of the student centers and University.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all technical and AV equipment in both buildings.
  • Coordinate work schedules and shift changes with the Graduate Assistant.
  • Serve as a liaison between Campus Life professional staff and student staff.
  • Conduct employee evaluations with the Associate Director and Graduate Assistant.
  • Support Professional Staff housed in Rocky Top and Carl Hansen Student Centers.
  • Maintain organization within workspaces.
  • Create and implement employee engagement and recognition activities prizes and challenges.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly staff meetings.
  • Create and distribute newsletters and quizzes; collect quiz data.
  • Cover vacant hours in emergencies.
  • Assist in planning staff training programs and evaluations.
  • Conduct weekly checkins with all employees.
  • Conduct hourly rounds of the student center.
  • Manage closet/storage space.
  • Review staff duty logs and document coaching and disciplinary conversations.
  • Monitor and report disciplinary points of employees.
  • Create weekly reports for the Graduate Assistant and Associate Director.
  • Hold office hours at Carl Hansen 202 Welcome Desk.
  • Design professional development opportunities for employees.

Programming Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop implement and execute passive programming during operation hours including marketing/advertising to the student population.
      • This includes but is not limited to weektoweek survey creation collection and data presentations.
  • Work with Campus Life team to develop schedule and execute programming in the organization suite including club leadership workshops conflict resolution sessions etc.
  • Collaborate with the GA for Organizations.
  • Organize inperson programs each semester.
  • Support Office of Student Engagement sponsored events.
Qualifications:
  • Must have held a leadership position in a student club or organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must have an understanding of the student organization event approval and submission process and OrgMail pick up process.
  • Strong background and interest in event planning.
  • Ability to design programs geared towards student leadership.
  • Strong leadership and problemsolving abilities.
  • Commitment to promoting department and University goals.
  • Maturity and a strong sense of direction.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Awareness of safety and risk management procedures.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special needs.
  • Capability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Foster a growth mindset and interest in innovation.
  • Positive attitude towards student leadership Campus Life and the University.
Hours of Position:
  • 15hrs per week
  • Must be available to work during daytime hours from both Rocky Top and Carl Hansen Student Centers with possible weekend shifts during the academic year.
