Overview
Structural Bridge Engineering Manager
Westwood Professional Services Inc.
Westwood Professional Services Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Bridge Engineering Manager to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience overseeing structural design projects ensure compliance with industry standards and lead a team of engineers to deliver innovative and efficient structural solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise leadership abilities and excellent communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create build and grow a bridge engineering department.
- Responsible for the structural design of bridges and ancillary transportation structures for TxDot and municipal clients.
- Coordinate various project activities with project team including geotechnical investigation hydrology and hydraulics environment reports and permitting survey and roadway design.
- Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects.
- Provided daytoday support and input to internal and external project managers.
- Communicate project details with clients agencies and the public.
- Mentor train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel.
- Collaborate with architects contractors and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated design solutions.
- Review and approve engineering calculations drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Manage project timelines budgets and resources effectively to meet client expectations.
- Stay updated on industry trends materials and technologies to incorporate innovative practices into designs.
- Prepare and present technical reports and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Bridge inspection experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal written and interpersonal skills.
- Detailoriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Manual and Facilities Development Manual.
- Familiar with AASHTO LRFD design code.
- Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD.
- Proficient with bridge engineering software such as Leap Bridge Eriksson or similar
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others work.
- Ability to use sound engineering judgment.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Travel may be needed on anoccasional basis.
Required Experience
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on Bridge andancillary transportation structures for TxDot and municipal clients.
