Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

The location for this role is 5650 Yonge St. with some travel to other offices (including 20 Bay)
What will I be doing
- Conducts financial and contract analysis to support and maintain adherence to strategy and develops reports and presentations utilizing analytical findings that support planning and decisionmaking and address the needs of Senior Management and The Board and support planning and decisionmaking
- Identifies assesses and recommends solutions for financial issues that impact capital and operating projects and / or contracts
- Conducts analyses and develops reports for Senior Management and The Board
- Provides Corridor Directors and project teams with financial analysis and associated financial reporting and metrics as required. Leads the analysis and delivery of financial reporting for the divisions capital commitments and individual capital projects by reconciling costs accrued forecasting expenditures and identifying variances.
- Delivers financial analysis expertise and advice to senior management and project teams regarding project payments and fiscal matters through the life of large multiple concurrent multibillion dollar capital projects.
- Provides regular updates to director on budgets and project status identifies areas of potential concern and advises director if contractors are in danger of default or noncompliance
- Uses financial and administrative controls and procedures for payments financial reporting and systems in support of program objectives and within accounting standards and best practices and corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists with the management of capital and operating budgets by coordinating program budget information (e.g. variance reports budget forecasts activity levels financial analysis) and preparing capital project budget justifications
- Monitors and controls capital and operating expenditures (e.g. budgeting and forecasting)
- Implements a robust accounting control system to ensure consistency in payments cost accounting and financial reporting of project activities
- Oversees cash flow analysis to identify trends and issues related to funding requests.
- Guides others in the performance of their daytoday activities without direct supervisory responsibility
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a diploma or degree in Business Administration Accounting or Finance or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
- Demonstrated progressive experience in finance and contract management
- Experience in a transportation infrastructure or transit environment strongly preferred since this is for the Project Subways team
- CPA or similar Accounting or related designation is an asset
- Knowledge and experience in accounting financial analysis and reporting principles and practices in large complex multibillion dollar and multiproject construction and infrastructure environments.
- Experience in using Ecosys and Oracle (CM14/Unifier).
