Title: GA PreProfessional Curriculum Development Graduate Assistant Fall 2025 Spring 2026

Career Services mission is to empower and support Redbirds to achieve their professional goals by providing resources experiences and industry connections.
The Curriculum Development Graduate Assistant will assist their director supervisor and the Student Relations Team in achieving the mission vision and goals of Career Services. The GA will be responsible for the duties listed below in addition to other duties assigned.
Career & Curriculum Development
Assist the Career Curriculum Development Advisor with planning course content assessing course effectiveness and implementing continuous plans for course improvement for all courses administered by Career Services.
Research best practices of career and curriculum development to improve training course materials and resources.
Assist Career Services staff in the of events for careerrelated courses
Plan organize and execute Career Chats program
Provide administrative strategic and instructional support for career preparation courses across campus with Career Services academic partners and assist with strengthening collegial relationships.
Conduct careerrelated workshops/presentations for undergraduates in career preparation courses across campus
Attend professional development sessions related to career and curriculum development as well as those related to Illinois State Universitys strategic plan and mission
Participate on office teams and committees and assume leadership when requested.
Advising & Presentations
Facilitate oneonone career advising sessions with students regarding career readiness (resume and cover letter writing/reviews; interview preparation; mock interviews; job and internship search strategies; and general career inquiries) and career exploration.
Educate students on the appropriate use of Career Services resources.
Record advising meeting notes in a timely fashion
Individualize career advising sessions based upon analysis of audience needs.
Counsel students during career advising sessions to pursue career goals and/or career exploration and encourage followup with a career advisor as needed.
Present careerrelated workshops/presentations for undergraduates Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and additional groups as assigned.
Individualize presentations based on audience needs.
Programs and Events
Collaborate with alumni employers and Career Services team members in the planning and of programs and events such as Career Chats.
Plan organize and execute programs/events as assigned.
Administrative/Meetings
Attend Career Services meetings training and professional development sessions as required.
Advocate for ideas in the development of new career programming based on the needs of campus constituents.
Maintain work calendar and respond to correspondence in a timely fashion.
$1510 for 0.5 FTE appointment
1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in any of the following graduate programs College Student Personnel Administration.
3. Detailoriented critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
4. Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously.
5. Ability to work cooperatively in a team.
6. Technical skills including Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel.
7. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

This is a 9.5 month Graduate Assistantship with a contract period from August 4 2025 May 8 2026. As a GA you will be expected to adhere to the University Administrative Calendar and all expectations as set forth in the offer letter. You must be eligible for employment in the United States and at Illinois State University and/or for the number of hours required for the position.
Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of oncampus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of oncampus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
