TITLE: Adult Education PartTime CNA Instructor
LOCATION: Urbana Adult Education Center
HOURS: Parttime hours; schedule varies and is based on CNA quarterly calendar; evening/weekend hours may be required for clinical experience sessions; not to exceed 599 hours/year
SCHEDULE: Varies each quarter; based on needs of program

REQUIREMENTS: RN with current Illinois State Nursing Licensure (required); BSN (preferred)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Plan and prepare for classroom lab and clinical instruction
- Lead classroom lab and clinical instruction
- Utilize instructional materials methods techniques and resources appropriate to individual learners needs to assist adults in acquiring basic literacy and nursing skills.
- Incorporate curriculum materials that will increase students knowledge of employability skills and responsible citizenship skills while teaching nursing assistant skills.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Follow up student absences by telephone and/or mail to encourage good attendance
- Maintain good communication with support staff and administration to help students remove barriers to good attendance and achievement of their goals.
- Attend staff meetings and other professional meetings as requested.
- Maintain a personal commitment to lifelong learning and enhancement of professional abilities. Meet all required professional development requirements.
- Communicate with all adult education staff to increase awareness of changes in program opportunities which could benefit students.
- Assist the CNA Coordinator with paperwork and data collection duties as assigned.
- Supervision of CNAs during clinical rotation.
- Conduct other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Must be an RN with current Illinois State Nursing Licensure. Bachelors in Nursing preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Must demonstrate an ability to accept cultural and ethnic differences and adjust teaching techniques if necessary to create a non threatening atmosphere
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Strong instructional skills that result in high student engagement and retention.
- Must have strong customer service skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with all staff students community members and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of technology including Word Excel Google Docs Google Classroom Google Sheets Google Forms Video Conferencing platforms
- Ability to build rapport with youth of diverse backgrounds
- Once trained must be able to problemsolve take initiative and work independently.
- Must have strong classroom management skills and be able to supervise students independently.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Parttime; hours vary and are established based on the needs of the program.
SALARY RANGE: $32.00$35.00/hour; commensurate with education and experience
NOTE: This is a NONEXEMPT nonbargaining unit nonadministrative position.
EVALUATION: To be completed by the Director of Adult Education using the districts evaluation instrument.
