Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

Adapt and implement the ESM (Energy Savings Mode) design to meet the EPAs (Environmental Protection Agency) new Energy Star Program for Medical Imaging Equipment. Lead the Eco-friendly feature designs to cover the GE HealthCare CT (Computed Tomography) portfolio including ESM features recyclable materials introduction and hazardous material reduction Lead-Free collimator introduction and EPA Energy Star features. Own the Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) to demonstrate the efforts GE HealthCare CT places to minimize product level environmental impact (the EPDs are summarized based on a methodology Life Cycle Assessment which cover all life stage of the product). Interpret new regulations and guidelines from government or NGOs into engineering language to ensure our devices meet the requirements. Support the CT modality and GE HealthCare company level strategy and decision making for ESG (Environmental Social and Corporate Governance) including the feasibility study of 25% of Scope 3 carbon emission and build a roadmap for CT ESG features for different products. Answer all related ESG questions directly from our customers focusing primarily on the U.S. and Canada as well as Europe as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelors degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related. Five (5) years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering Design and Analysis or related field. Academic background or work experience to include: Electromechanical subsystem designs to include: Engineering Materials Controls Thermal Motors Electrical Design and Systems Design; Product development process from general concept through detail design verification and product production release; Manufacturing processes including machining welding and sheet metals; 3D design software including Creo SolidWorks or similar; Analyzing and translating environmental and medical design regulations (including medical safety regulation IEC60601-1 and Environmental design IECand COCIR SRI) into system requirements and design outputs; Cross functional project or program management for Hardware Software Firmware or Systems design to include requirements management VOC (Voice of Customer) planning execution and verification; Conducting product level environmental impact assessment including Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA); and Creating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) or Environmental Product Collaterals (EPCs) along with calculations of carbon emissions (i.e. company level scope 3) for ESG marketing and commercial materials as related to medical devices.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

GE Medical Systems LLC will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable). As a federal government contractor GE HealthCare may in the future be required to have U.S. employees fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Some GE HealthCare customers currently have vaccination mandates that may apply to GE HealthCare employees.
