CLASS TITLE: TEACHER
BASIC FUNCTION: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible men and women.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Meets and instructsassigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interestsand abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturityand interests of the students.
- Prepares for classesassigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request ofimmediate superior.
- Guides the learningprocess toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony withthe goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects to communicate these objectives to students as adopted by the local and state Board of Education.
- Takes all necessary andreasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Maintains accuratecomplete and correct records as required by law district policy andadministrative regulation pertaining to teacher and students.
- Assists theadministration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for educationrelated purposesoutside the instructional day when required or requested to do so underreasonable terms.
- Continuously strives to improve professional competence and collaboration with colleagues and communities.
- Attends staff meetingsserves on staff committees and performs duties prescribed by theprincipal and by School Board Policies.
- Promotes publicrelations for the schools programs and activities.
- Becomes acquainted withparents; reports any unusual occurrence or event to the principal or thedesignated representative immediately.
- Contacts the principal or the designated representative as soon as possible when the teacher mustbe absent from school.
- Remains at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or thedesignated representative.
- Participates in theselection adoption and inventory of textbooks.
- Implements all rules and regulations policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by theSchool SBDM Council and the School Board for the district.
- Maintains aprofessional appearance as an example for students.
- The Board of Educationdelegates to the person holding this position the reasonable authoritynecessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities listed for this position.
- Is familiar with andincorporates the use of technology in daily tasks.
- Maintains regular andpredictable attendance.
- Adheres to the professional code of conduct.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Valid State Teaching Certificate for Specific Subject Area and/or Grade Level
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
187 days*. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.*Specified positions may have extended days.
EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
