Job Description


The High Prairie School Division

is inviting applicants for:

Interactions Classroom Teacher at E.G. Wahlstrom School

School Year

E.G. Wahlstrom School is located in the town of Slave Lake in northern Alberta in the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. It is located 257 km north of Edmonton on the southeast shore of Lesser Slave Lake at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 88.

E.G. Wahlstrom is a Grade 4 to 6 school with an enrollment of approximately 310 students and 33 staff. We are committed to ensuring a welcoming caring respectful and safe learning environment that respects diversity and nurtures a sense of belonging and a positive sense of self. We are dedicated to building relationships spreading kindness and promoting passion and enjoyment of learning. Within our school we provide a variety of support services to all students including the areas of literacy math and social emotional learning.

At E.G Wahlstrom School we support new teachers through ongoing professional development assigned mentor teachers and instructional coaching. We believe in a team approach to building capacity so that our teachers are well prepared and supported throughout a school year.

The Interactions Classroom is an inclusive environment that maximizes resources to provide an enriched educational experience that meets the individual needs for students with exceptionalities.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be a caring patient individual with a passion for students with exceptionalities
  • Have the ability to create and implement developmentally appropriate individualized academic programs that include social/emotional and life skills programming
  • The ability to evaluate student readiness and growth within individualized programs.
  • Engage students in the community including adapted aquatics and other appropriate alternative educational experiences
  • Work in a collaborative setting
  • Manage a team
  • Work collaboratively with service providers
  • Support and care for students with medical and personal hygiene needs
