Goshen Intermediate School
Bookkeeper
POSITION PURPOSE: To keep complete and accurate record of building financial transactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Establish extracurricular accounts in accordance with the requirements and accepted procedures of the State Board of Accounts and the School District.
- Receive and receipt all monies deposited with the school.
- Process all purchase orders in compliance with District policy.
- Maintain all accounting records in compliance with District policy.
- Assist building staff in utilizing and depositing funds in compliance with District policy.
- Assist Building Administrators in the preparation of the annual budget for supplies and equipment.
- Requisition supplies and equipment as requested by Building Administrator and/or staff.
- Monitor all budget funds and grant monies assigned to the building.
- Receive all supplies and equipment and distribute to appropriate staff members.
- Develop and submit monthly reports as required including bank reconciliation.
- Prepare materials for auditors and cooperate fully with audit needs.
- Pay all bills in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining building fixed asset inventory
- Assist in fee collection of Curricular Materials
- Communicate with vendors as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of and ability to keep financial records accurately.
- Possess effective computer bookkeeping and accounting skills.
- Ability to learn and effectively use designated software.
- Positive communication skills both oral and written. Good people skills.
- Understanding of District policies related to school internal accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: One year certificate from college or technical school; or oneyear related experience in bookkeeping and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous accounting experience with large cash volumes preferred.
- Ability to accurately enter and retrieve computerized data.
- Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students parents staff regulatory agencies or members of the community.
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use standard school software accounting software internet software email spreadsheets and word processing software.
- Ability to appropriately communicate with students teachers parents and members of the community. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
HOURS:Extended school year; 214 days per year; 40hours per week 7:304:00
SALARY:$18.00$18.50 rate is dependent upon education and/or experience. (Schedule #221
