Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement this position provides collaborative leadership in the operations and fiscal oversight of the division of University Advancement and the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation (CPPPF). This position promotes the perspective and philosophy of the Vice President which is consistent with the Universitys mission and strategic goals. This position assists the Vice President in the fulfillment of a wide variety of complex and highly sensitive executive duties and is responsible for all operational and fiscal aspects of the University Advancement division and the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation including (but not limited too): accounting operations gift processing advancement operations state & foundation budget procurement endowment management investment oversight board operations and staff supervision. This position serves as the staff liaison to the CPPPF Finance and Investment Committee and the Audit Committee.
In addition this position provides scholarship administration. Scholarship administration is supported through close collaboration between Advancement Services and Financial Aid & Scholarships ensuring donor intent is honored through accurate fund coordination student eligibility verification and timely disbursement.
The AVP will consult with executive team/management and administration on divisional strategy and accomplishing divisional objectives as well as advises executive team/management on critical and sensitive issues. The incumbent will provide leadership support and coordinates prepares and submits required reports to the VP and other appropriate University Officials.
Required Qualifications
Among the required qualifications are:
An earned bachelors or appropriate terminal degree from an accredited institution or professional equivalency preferably in finance budget management investments and operational oversight
10 years experience in accounting and finance budget management investments and operational oversight.
5 years of experience in effective time and organizational management
Preferred Qualifications
The chosen candidate should be collaborative teamoriented innovative visionary and should work effectively and supportively with various stakeholders. The chosen candidate will have a deep understanding of current developments in the higher education industry including the latest technological advancements and impacts of the mission and vision. Strong communication team building and problemsolving capacity are strongly valued. Additional preferred qualifications include:
Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently using judgment and discretion to act when precedent does not exist
Ability to appropriately handle interpersonal interactions at all levels
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated experience with the multifaceted aspects of financial management in a not forprofit organization preferably with endowed funds
Demonstrated leadership and supervisorial experience
Evidence of the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external constituencies
Superior verbal and written communication skills in English
Proficiency in using administrative computing systems MS Office applications and other relevant software applications
Ability to accommodate occasional business travel and occasional weekend early morning and evening hours
Indepth knowledge of financial benchmarking FASB/GASB/GAAP accounting audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters
Extensive experience in administration accounting and/or finance investments budgets leadership & management human resources and project management
Ability to build an effective team and maintain positive work relationships on and off campus with populations from all backgrounds.
Possess effective interpersonal communication skills to motivate and inspire staff volunteers donors and others to reach maximum potential
Must be a creative and dynamic strategic thinker
Strong supervisory management and organizational skills
Ability to function on multiple tasks with self motivation and initiative
Ability to develop solutions to complex problems requiring the use of ingenuity and creativity
Experience in fundraising and investor relations (preferred)

Salary and Total Rewards
The salary for this position will be $175000 $200000 annually commensurate with qualifications and experience.

University Driving Requirements
Positions that require driving for university business by using apersonal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must: 1. Have a valid California or other State Drivers license. 2. Have no more than 3 motor vehicle violations or been the cause of 3 accidents in a 12month period (or any combination of 3 thereof) 3.
