Job Description

Job Description:

Individual will be responsible for teaching the MISDdesigned First Grade Fundamentals Summer Learning Enrichment Camp for students entering Grade 1. All students will receive an educational learning kit to support summer learning. Students will be engaged in interactive meaningful literacy experiences through daily read alouds and shared readings. They will gain important prereading/writing concepts such as print awareness phonological awareness letter/sound knowledge oral language vocabulary comprehension and writing fluency.

Position Department: Summer School

Report to: Billie Sczepaniak Director of Curriculum and Educational Services

Teacher Hours:

  • 8:00am11:20am (including breakfast and lunch supervision)
  • 40 minutes of daily paid prep time
  • Total hours per day: 4

Teacher Days:

  • Student Program Dates: June
  • PreProgram setup: June 12; 9:00am12:00pm 3 hours)
  • Training (provided virtually and compensated by MISD): 5 hours; Date TBD

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Certification in CPR and first aidrequired
  • Must be available during the time requirements of the position.
  • Early Elementary Experience (Preferred not required)
  • Early Childhood Endorsement (Preferred not required)
  • Enthusiastic Energetic Positive Professional

Responsibilities:

  • Attending mandatory teacher training
  • Administering pre and post assessments
  • Planning and providing daily effective instructional activities/lessons for each day of camp
  • Planning appropriate instruction based on assessment/s and to support student need
  • Providing activities (using the learning kits) that families can do with their children each week
  • Encouraging families to read daily with their children
  • Supervise students during breakfast and lunch

Rate of Pay Note: $25/hour (per REA Contract) $15/hourBonus to Address Learning Loss $40/hour
