Job Description

Parttime Mental Health Direct Care Professionals

(Residential Services Technician)

The Bridge program

Pay Rate: $20.50/hour

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a Mental Health Direct Care Professionals(Residential Services Technician) to join ourResidential treatment teams.

This opening in with our Bridge adult residential program. The Bridge is a 12bed residential treatment program for homeless adults living with a major mental illness many of whom also experience cooccurring conditions. The program works to address the complex needs of the clients utilizing an integrated individualized and clientcentered approach operated 24 hours/day by staff trained in traumainformed care crisis intervention and mental health and substance use treatment. Often our clients have cooccurring conditions such as chronic health conditions and/or substance use disorders.

These positions provide direct service in the residential group care or transitional living setting. As a direct care worker and mental health support specialist you will:

  • provide personal support and supportive counseling to our residents
  • be part of a clinical team utilizing the tasks of daily living as instrumental treatment components while also helping to create a sense of permanency with a home like environment
  • contribute to identifying needs or emerging needs physical and mental health wellbeing medication administration personal support watchful oversight and milieu management
  • contribute to maintaining a clean and organized facility and in maintaining staff office charts and documentation.

These positions attend weekly or biweekly program staff meetings and participate in other meetings as is performed reviewed and evaluated under the supervision of the Program Director or Program Coordinator.

***This role is required by the State of Maine to have proof of immunization or documented immunity against rubeola (measles) mumps rubella (German measles) varicella (chicken pox) hepatitis B (optional) and influenza. Medical exemption may be accommodated with a written statement from a licensed medical professional. The Agency may assist with obtaining vaccines or proof of immunity if needed.

Schedule: This is a parttime 20hours/week position.

Various schedules available. Specific schedule availability will be discussed with the program during an interview.

These positions vary with hours. The program operates on a 24 hour/day 7 days a week basis. Willingness to have availability on weekends/holidays is required.

Location: Onsite in Portland ME

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelors Degree or equivalent training in mental health preferred.
  • Must become certified as Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician 1 (MHRT1 within 1 year of employment; then maintain required trainings to uphold continuous MHRT1 status.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft office preferred.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Flexible schedule is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • If MHRT is required for position youmust pass CNA registry check
  • If residential or ECE employee must be able to pass preemployment physical and TB screen.
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing walking reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching driving typing and frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clientsordriving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
