The AXA XL UK & Lloyds Construction and Engineering team provides Construction/Erection All Risks (and associated covers) for a diverse portfolio of clients on a Worldwide basis.
Our clients include Coverholders Contractors Utilities Developers and Engineering companies. We work with all the main broking houses in London and have a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growing team. This role offers the prospect for the right candidate to increase their market profile and assist with the development of new business.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering background and some EAR/Renewable energy experience however this is not a prerequisite.
As an Underwriter you will be responsible for delivering a profitable Underwriting service to your clients. Your key tasks include: underwriting business within the agreed business plan and individual authority; supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposurewithin outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits; maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; supporting the design and structure of risks.
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Irelands Fitness and Probity regime.

Joining AXA XL as an experienced Underwriter II you will have the opportunity to work with and be responsible for managing a wide range of clients including Coverholders to provide an innovative and bespoke underwriting service. You will help to mentor and train Underwriting Assistants and Underwriter I colleagues on our pricing tools and technical topics.
What will your essential responsibilities include
Reviewing submissions policy wordings inspection reports loss runs and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.
Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector reinsurance cessions as well as the Underwriting and general administration costs while ensuring profitability.
Proactively advising assisting servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for crossselling offered products and ensuring account retention.
Oversee the pipeline and relationship of an allocated broker ensuring that we are seeing relevant and timely opportunities.
Controlling timely implementation of new and renewal accounts according to quality standards.
Contribute to the annual postbind review process.
Review loss control reports and managing policy endorsement requests to process any necessary changes to the policy.
Oversee the risk management surveys and closeout of any risk improvement recommendations for your allocated clients.

Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
