Job Description
Project Kuiper is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast reliable internet to customers and communities around the world and weve designed the system with the capacity flexibility and performance to serve a wide range of customers from individualhouseholds to schools hospitals businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
We are hiring a Controls Technician who will work closely with mechanical and controls engineering teams to implement industrial automation and control equipment for the success of Project Kuiper.
This is a fastpaced intellectually challenging position and youll work with leaders in multiple technology areas. Ownership and an ability to thrive when faced with ambiguity is essential.

Key job responsibilities
Control panel assembly and wiring
Machine field wiring
Panel bringup and troubleshooting
Machine commissioning and troubleshooting
PLC program troubleshooting
Maintain Automation & Controls Workshop
Support mechanical activities as required.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
About the team
KTO (Kuiper Tooling Ops) provides on site expert technical support focused in the fields of Control Systems Builds Welding Machining Metal Fabrication Laser Tracking Precision Assembly and DFM.
At least 3 years working experience with installing commissioning troubleshooting and maintaining industrial controls equipment in a manufacturing environment.
1 years experience with reading interpreting and executing electrical schematics and drawings
1 years experience with general electrical safety practices such as lockout / tagout PPE etc. for system up to 480 VAC
Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions stand/walk for up to 810 hours (with breaks) and able to frequently push pull squat bend and reach.
Degree or certificate in a related field
Minimum 5 years working in a manufacturing environment using basic hand and power tools
including PCs PLCs IP networking sensors fieldbus PID controllers etc.
Experience with motor wiring commissioning tuning and troubleshooting including Variable Frequency Drives and Servo Control
Experience in electrical control layout design and schematic
Knowledge of NEC NFPA 79 and UL508A
Knowledge of industrial automation programming ladder structured text HMI
Crossorganizational communication comfortable evangelizing ideas and concerns clearly and persuasively in both verbal and written forms.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $73900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
