Who were looking for
The Plastics Production Engineering department is seeking a technically minded and results driven Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to manage new vehicle Exterior projects from product concept phase through tooling and production preparation phase. Additionally this position will be responsible for the development of injection molding processes technical standards and operation procedures.
The person in this role will support the Plastics Production Engineering departments objective to launch high quality new model plastic components to the North American Manufacturing Centers (NAMCs).
What youll be doing
Overall Supporting new model Exterior programs both individually and through indirect management with a team of Engineers SEIBI and NAMC members.
Personal and Career development Freedom to think solve issues and develop by making a direct impact to the result. Collaborate across PE/Design/NAMC to develop a wider view of Toyota. Drive Kaizen innovation and reflection to realize steady growth.
Project Management Create and manage schedule budget and quality confirmation plan for multiple projects
Project Strategy Assist in developing/leading/monitoring project plan strategies to improve department/Toyotas overall performance.
Design Review Confirm and follow procedures and standards for Exterior parts projects (Part design Mold design Vehicle Design Process flow).
New Technology introduction Responsible for Implementation of new plastics processes from concept into production.
Reporting Regular reporting to Manager and Senior Managers on project status and clear explanation of complex technical issues.
What you bring
Bachelors Degree (or higher) in Engineering or 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing
Experience in Plastic Mold Processing with focus on mold development quality confirmation and successful handover to production
Problem Solving experience in Production Preparation Phase for Plastic Parts including investigation identification and resolution of design issues and creating countermeasures while managing schedule of implementation
Experience managing project schedules budgets and quality to successful completion
Ability to work weekends holidays and shutdowns to support project milestones
Ability to travel up to 25 of time within US Japan Canada Mexico for project activities
Added bonus if you have
Bachelors degree (or higher) in Plastics Engineering or Equivalent Experience 5 years)
Advanced Degree (higher than Bachelors)
Hands on experience in molding machine equipment operations
Experience with Necessary Condition Planning (Ryohin Joken) for Production Processes
Experience with automotive assembly including process planning / layout development and TPS for plastic part assembly
Experience in quality control process parts accuracy measurement or quality validation
Technical knowledge of Injection Molding processes
Experience with AutoCAD CATIA or other drawing software including the ability to read interpret and modify both 2D and 3D drawings
Experience with design review process problem tracking and part structure change proposals
Experience in plastic parts tooling specification tooling procurement and vendor management
Ability to analyze CAE reporting and provide guidance for countermeasures both to vehicle design and to tooling design
Material design or material confirmation experience
Tool and die experience
Successful completion of Toyota Business Process (panel approval).
Supervisory experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
