TITLE: Communications Coordinator
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE; 12Month position
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for fostering strong relationships between the district and its families the community and its stakeholders. This role aims to facilitate open communication collaboration and mutual support to enhance student success and community involvement in educational initiatives. Through strategic planning outreach efforts and partnership development the Communications Coordinator works to ensure that the district remains deeply connected to the diverse needs and aspirations of its stakeholders promoting a culture of inclusivity trust and active engagement in the educational process.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Develop and implement comprehensive community engagement strategies to enhance collaboration between the high school district families and the broader community.
- Manage and maintain the school districts website with assistance from the District Office/Site Webmasters ensuring content is uptodate accurate and userfriendly and adheres to accessibility standards.
- Lead the district marketing initiatives to create and disseminate compelling informative marketing materials and campaigns that promote district programs events and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Create engaging content for the school districts social media platforms including Facebook Twitter Instagram and others to increase audience reach and interaction
- Lead the districts communications initiatives in crafting clear consistent messaging across various platforms to foster transparency trust and positive relationships within the community.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations businesses and local government agencies to leverage resources and support for district initiatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate community forums workshops and events to encourage dialogue input and participation from stakeholders on matters affecting the district.
- Collaborate with school administrators and staff to ensure that communication strategies and engagement efforts align with district goals and priorities.
- Monitor and analyze community feedback trends and perceptions to inform continuous improvement efforts in communication and community engagement strategies.
- Serve as a member and district representative of various community and professional organizations relevant to the purpose of the position.
- Serve as a liaison between the district and families to address concerns provide assistance and promote understanding of district policies procedures and initiatives.
- Stay informed about current trends best practices and innovations in community engagement marketing and communications to enhance effectiveness and relevance in the role.
- Coordinate and facilitate parent and community stakeholders meetings under the guidance of District Leadership.
- Collaborate with the various parent organizations (Boosters Site Council Ed Foundation etc. at the school sites for purposes of promoting the events and to increase community involvement.
- Share community resources with parents/families as needed for various district programs.
- Must be available to work during the evening time and weekends for educationrelated purposes or activities outside the instructional day as assigned by the administration.
- Attends jobrelated workshops inservices etc. to maintain proficient technical skills and continued professional growth.
- Comply with all rules regulations and policies of the Governing Board that related to the duties as prescribed.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required.
OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:
Low risk Work is routinely performed in indoor/outdoor environments including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time. May require standing in inclement weather including summer heat.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Valid AZ Dept of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Associate degree in communications journalism public relations or an equivalent combination of academic preparation and Public Relations experience (minimum 3 years of Public Relations experience without a degree) from which comparable knowledge skills and abilities have been achieved may be acceptable.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Demonstrated team leadership database management and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal written and presentation).
- Experience working in an educational or governmental business environment is highly desirable.
- The chosen person must be results oriented with a demonstrated ability to produce specific and measurable results.
- Bachelors degree in communications journalism or public relations or related field preferred.
- Must be available to work during the evening time and weekends for educationrelated purposes or activities outside the instructional day as assigned by the administration.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Handling sensitive and confidential issues.
- Knowledge of principles practices and methods of public relations and marketing.
- Training development and delivery experience. Preferably in an educational environment.
- Knowledge of district policies state and federal laws affecting work.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles of copywriting design/layout work photography video production social media graphics and digital photo editing.
- Knowledge of basic understanding of website design/content management. Skill in handling crisis situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to develop unique and innovative solutions to problems.
- Skill in applying advanced understanding of grammar and punctuation to written communications.
- Skill in operating photographic and audiovisual equipment. Skill in writing for different communication mediums (e.g. web print social media video etc..
- Ability to drive to various locations for meetings/production work/events.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Visions Software
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with coworkers vendors staff the public and others having business with the school district.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.

The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Superintendent.
